FrontPageEffects of Domestic Violence on Women and Children:
Because domestic violence has such serious effects on women and children, I spent much time making sure that I could provide evidence within my paper (as well as within this presentation) that would help others understand that we must all strive to make a difference if we suspect someone is being abused. Sources I used were mainly academic journal articles on the effects of domestic violence on women and children, but I also used an online article written by the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's office and was able to get an interview with someone who had seen abuse as a child and who had himself been abused. The most important thing I learned from my writing is what I am hoping to pass on to others. If you suspect someone you know is being abused, don't be afraid to get involved. You may just be the one that saves that person's life and the lives of her children!
Please take the time to view the photos that are listed here carefully. To do so, Click on upload/view file, click on images, and click on the file name. As you view these pictures, imagine what the woman in each photo is feeling, and try to imagine what her child(ren) are feeling if they have seen her be absued to this point or have come home from school to find her this way. Though it is hard to think about these types of things, they are exactly the things that go on every day, and they are exactly the types of things we must keep in mind so that we do not ignore the problems of domestic violence, but rather so that we get involved and help those who are so desperately in need of a way to escape. Though this video is 20 minutes long, I feel that it is essential in order for you to gain a better idea of what the face of domestic violence looks like.
